Join FX of KC on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Office Evolution from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. to post portfolio samples at www.fxofkc.com with the help of members, friends and colleagues.

As freelancers, we live by deadlines — but when it comes to posting and promoting our own work, it’s often the last thing we think about. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to get your samples collected and online, so that you can promote all the incredible things you’ve been working on!

Having your portfolio online is one of many FX of KC member benefits. It complements your legacy website in creating another opportunity for prospective clients to find you, learn about you and see your work. Even better, you can add it to your LinkedIn profile! What are you waiting for?

Help! I don’t have a traditional portfolio! 
Portfolios aren’t only for creatives! Your portfolio might include testimonials, analytics, case studies, or results that have happened because of your work. Those are relevant and a great way to market yourself! (Go a step beyond — partner up with a creative to help polish up those items, so they can look and sound their very best. It’s a great way to introduce yourself and your work to other FX’ers for referrals!) 

How do I know if I’ve already uploaded a portfolio?
Look for the briefcase icon next to a member’s name. If it’s there, great! Join us and help your peers upload their portfolios. If it’s missing, follow the easy steps below and mark your calendar to join us on the 28th, and stay for the monthly Office Evolution networking event at 4:30.

What to do/bring:

• If you’ve not set up an account at www.fxofkc.com, do it!
  • From the homepage, click on User Dashboard, then Account Details, then complete the blanks and click “Update” at bottom.
  • Your laptop.
  • Your name.
  • Your email address.
  • Link to your LinkedIn, if desired.
  • Your web address, if applicable.
  • Background information in Word or similar about you/your business, to copy and paste. Your LinkedIn summary could work, at least initially.
  • Work sample images – maybe set a goal for 1-5 to get up and running, and for modification later.
  • For each execution to be displayed, you’ll need/want to have:
    • An image of the work – a png (screenshot), jpg or pdf work well.
    • A high-level title, such as “Client blog post,” “Website,” “Direct Marketing” or similar.
    • A description of the project or piece.
    • A live link to the work if you’re connecting out.
    • Come prepared with the above. Due to limits, this is not a “make/gather on the fly” event. It’s an upload event.
    • What does success look like? A new or enhanced location where visitors can view your work, learn about you and decide if connecting can benefit them.
