Background

Four Lights Web Development is a Kansas City-based small company that has been producing websites for small businesses and in partnership with marketing and design agencies since 2010. Lisa Woodruff, Web Developer/Owner, earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Iowa State University and has been a professional web developer since 2003 in both the public and private sectors. She is fluent in multiple web languages and technologies including PHP, WordPress, ColdFusion, Javascript/jQuery and HTML/CSS, has worked extensively with MySQL and SQL Server databases, and has dabbled in Drupal, React, Python, Java and C#. She created Four Lights Web Development in 2010, driven by a love of building websites. She has served as Web Director for The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City, is a member of Kansas City Women in Technology, and a regular at Kansas City’s PHP User Group.

An economic development organization's site created in WordPress. The site was a custom design by candid marketing + communications, then built by Four Lights Web Development. Features include a theme that utilizes the Genesis Framework and responsive design, a custom homepage layout including sliders, carousels and tickers, custom page templates for the investors, growth areas, and news content, custom shortcodes to display news and project announcements (in a special link-and-description-only format), and Gravity Forms for a custom contact form.

A brochure site advertising Kansas City Power and Light's data centers created in WordPress with a base of the Underscores starter theme. The site was a custom design by candid marketing + communcations, then built by Four Lights Web Development. Features include a custom WordPress theme that incorporates responsive design, a custom template with page sections for the homepage, and javascript-based animated scrolling.
American Bar Association - National Capital Standards Database American Bar Association - National Capital Standards Database
A repository for historical and current standards for legal representation in capital cases. Driven by WordPress and enhanced with custom post types and categories, a customized admin login, additional user fields and an approval process, uploaded files stored outside the web root to restrict access to logged-in users only, a custom search, searchable and downloadable PDF documents, and a mass import tool for documents and data.

A local cider mill's site created in WordPress. The site was a custom design by Cyteworks, then built by Four Lights Web Development. Features include a theme that utilizes the Genesis Framework and responsive design, custom templates for the homepage content, an event calendar to highlight upcoming events, and WooCommerce to sell apple cider, fruit butter, and other products.
Pryde’s Kitchen & Necessities Pryde’s Kitchen & Necessities
Worked with MAD Creative to modify a Shopify theme with custom branding, page layouts, and functionality for Pryde's Kitchen & Necessities.
Iowa Radiology Iowa Radiology
Worked with Juicebox Interactive to create a custom web application for Iowa Radiology to manage incoming studies for review and response. The application allows techs to log in and submit/verify studies, which are picked up and sent to a physician to review. After a report is completed, it is returned to the web application to be turned into a PDF document and handed off to fax software, which sends it back to the referring physician. Additional features include an auto-refreshing worklist, a field-by-field merge process for multiple studies, an auto-logout from inactivity, and error alerts. The custom application was created with PHP/MySQL using the Symfony2 framework, in addition to Doctrine 2 ORM, Twitter Bootstrap 3.0, Twig templating, Composer dependency manager, and Git for version control.
Appcelerator Appcelerator
A software company’s site originally created by the client, including a main site in WordPress and non-WordPress subdomains using a major PHP framework. Assisted with creation of redesigned pages from mockups provided by a designer and integrated with the client’s existing theme and CSS. Worked with the client’s developers and github repository to deliver the code. Features added include: added new database fields and search filters and reskinned Devlink section run by a non-WordPress PHP framework, moved blog and content into core WordPress blog functionality, styled to match mockups from designer, created new Resource Center section using custom post types, styled to match mockups from designer, pricing plans that display when the appropriate tab is clicked, testimonials displayed and animated using the Masonry javascript library, responsive videos that display when their thumbnails are clicked (similar to YouTube), multiple versions of the same page to enable the client to perform A/B testing
PPS Work In Progress Tracker PPS Work In Progress Tracker
Created a custom web application for PPS, Inc. to track all of their work in progress. The application allows staff to log in and view a calendar-format display of job statuses across all departments as well as their individual department in order to better manage their workflow. Additional features include a scheduled data import with advanced issue reporting, the ability to control all settings affecting the calculations and display of jobs, an auto-refreshing worklist, and an auto-logout from inactivity. The custom application was created with PHP/MySQL using the Symfony2 framework, in addition to Doctrine 2 ORM, Twitter Bootstrap 3, Twig templating, Composer dependency manager, and Git for version control.
